Terms of Service
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. Who we are
Blank Academy is an online tutoring platform operated by Bidileci Holdings ("Blank Academy", "we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@blankacademy.co.uk.
These terms apply to parents, guardians and students who use the platform. Tutors are covered by the separate Tutor Terms. By creating an account or booking a lesson you agree to these terms.
2. What Blank Academy is
We provide one-to-one online tuition delivered through our website: you buy credits, book lessons with tutors, and lessons take place in our built-in video lesson room. Our tutors are self-employed professionals engaged by us to deliver lessons; your contract for the service is with Blank Academy.
We check every tutor before they can teach on the platform, but we do not guarantee any particular academic outcome. Exam results depend on many things beyond tuition.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 to create a parent, guardian or tutor account.
- Students under 18 may only use the platform with the consent of a parent or guardian, who remains responsible for the account and for payments. Parents can choose whether their child can book lessons themselves.
- Keep your password safe and tell us promptly if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
- The information you give us at signup must be accurate and kept up to date.
4. Credits and payment
- Lessons are paid for with credits, bought in bundles. The price of each bundle, and how many credits each tutor's lessons cost, are always shown before you pay or book.
- Credits never expire.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Credits are personal to your family account. They cannot be sold or transferred to another account, and cannot be exchanged for cash except as described in section 6.
5. Booking, cancelling and rescheduling lessons
- When you book, the credits for the lesson are held from your balance. If the tutor declines the request, they are refunded automatically.
- Cancel a booked lesson more than 12 hours before it starts and your credits are refunded automatically, no questions asked.
- Cancel within 12 hours of the start time and the credits are kept by the tutor, because a slot cancelled that late can rarely be re-filled. The same applies if the student simply does not turn up.
- If a tutor cancels on you, whatever the notice, your credits are always refunded in full and we will help you rebook. Tutors who repeatedly cancel at short notice are warned and can be removed from the platform.
6. Refunds and your legal cancellation right
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have the right to change your mind within 14 days of buying a credit bundle. Email hello@blankacademy.co.uk within 14 days of the purchase and we will refund any credits from that bundle you have not spent, to your original payment method, within 14 days of your request.
By booking a lesson that takes place within the 14-day period you ask us to provide the service during that period, and the credits spent on delivered lessons are not refundable.
After the 14 days, unspent credits stay on your balance indefinitely. If we ever close the platform or permanently withdraw the service, we will refund unspent credits. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill.
7. Behaviour on the platform
- Treat tutors, students and staff with respect. Abusive, harassing or discriminatory behaviour is not tolerated, in lessons, messages, homework or reviews.
- Lessons, and payments for them, must stay on the platform. Please do not arrange or pay for lessons with a tutor you met through Blank Academy outside the platform: the protections in these terms, and our safeguarding measures, only apply on it.
- Messages on the platform may be reviewed by our staff for safeguarding and moderation purposes.
- Only upload content you have the right to share, and nothing unlawful or inappropriate. You keep ownership of what you upload; you give us permission to store and display it to the people it is shared with, which is what makes homework and messaging work.
- Reviews must reflect your genuine experience. We may remove reviews that are abusive or plainly not genuine.
8. Availability
We work hard to keep the platform available, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted, for example during maintenance or events outside our control. If a lesson is lost to a fault on our side, we will refund the credits.
9. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Otherwise, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or our lack of reasonable care and skill, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for business losses; the platform is for private, consumer use.
10. Ending things
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We will refund any unspent credits when you do.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we believe it is necessary to protect students, tutors or the platform. Where it is fair to do so, we will warn you first. If we close your account without you being at fault, we will refund unspent credits.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add features or the law changes. If a change meaningfully affects you, we will let you know by email or a notice on the platform before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
12. The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
If you are unhappy with anything, please email hello@blankacademy.co.uk first, we would much rather fix it than argue about it.
